Central to our creativity is MIMA (Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art)—a renowned international gallery and cultural hub that sits at the heart of our school. As a Plus Tate member and a National Portfolio Organisation, MIMA provides students with unparalleled access to exhibitions, collections, curatorial practice, and community engagement projects. It’s a living classroom where students collaborate with world-leading artists, curators, and changemakers to address real-world issues through art and design.
We are proud to be the first Adobe Creative Campus in Europe, giving every student access to over 20 industry-standard creative apps including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and InDesign. This partnership supports our Future Facing Learning initiative, helping students develop essential digital skills in communication, collaboration, and creativity—skills that employers demand and graduates need to thrive.
In addition, Teesside University is the only UK university recognised as an Apple Distinguished School, celebrating our pioneering approach to digital teaching and learning. Every student receives an iPad, enabling personalised learning experiences and fostering innovation across disciplines. This recognition reflects our commitment to creating technology-rich environments that support academic achievement and prepare students for the future of work.
Our students don’t just learn—they create, publish, perform, exhibit, and innovate. From staging exhibitions at MIMA to producing films, launching fashion collections, and publishing original writing, Teesside students graduate with a portfolio of real-world experience and a network of industry connections and have won national and international competitions and recognition.
Join us at Teesside University and become part of a creative community that’s bold, future-focused, and ready to make a difference.
