The School of Creative Industries can trace its origins back to 1856 as the Southampton College of Art, which led to the formation of Southampton Institute and since 2005 as Southampton Solent University.
We have a dynamic portfolio of practice-led undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across fine art, photography, film and media, digital and game arts, popular music production, interior design and architecture subject areas.
Our innovative research in the School of Creative Industries encompasses a diversity of established specialisms in areas including Art History, Contemporary Art and Creative Practice, Screen Studies and Film History, Music Festivals and the Cultural Economy, Popular Music studies, and Fashion Design and Material Culture.
We have collaborated with acclaimed museums and galleries, publishers and cultural organisations including Southampton City Art Gallery, Southampton Cultural Development Trust, The V&A London, The Fondazione Prada Venice, The Neubauer Collegium, University of Chicago, Palgrave MacMillan, Edinburgh University Press, Bloomsbury, Sage, Intellect, I B Tauris and Routledge.
