CHEAD, NAHEMI, Enterprise Educators and the Freelancer Club will launch an important new framework for freelancers' education this Summer.
The Freelance Education Framework (FEF) was developed to help institutions respond strategically to the growing number of graduates entering self-employment and portfolio careers. Co-created through a national Think Tank of senior leaders, educators and sector bodies, the Framework provides a structured, institution-wide approach to embedding freelance capability into curricula, careers provision and enterprise strategy.
This soft launch is designed for educators who want to move early, shape internal conversations, and position their institution at the forefront of freelance education ahead of the 2026 live launch.
This session is open to all CHEAD members and colleagues across the creative and wider HE/FE sector.
Participants will:
Gain early access to the full Freelance Education Framework
Understand the research, consultation and methodology underpinning it
Explore headline recommendations that will influence teaching, employability and enterprise strategy
Learn which senior stakeholders need to be engaged (PVCs, Deans, Careers, Enterprise, Finance)
Consider practical budgeting and resourcing implications
Access an action plan to begin implementation before the next academic year
