Dr. Jenny Holt

Dr Jenny Holt is Deputy Head of School and Reader in Film at the School of Digital Arts (SODA) at Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University, and Chair of the Group for Learning in Art and Design in Higher Education (GLADHE). Her background in documentary television and artist-documentary practice as research inform a keen interest in innovative approaches to film practice pedagogy in the art and design context, and in how synergies between practice, research and education as an interdependent critical culture encourage creative innovation, cultural relevance and storytelling voice across an expanded digital arts landscape. 

A strong advocate for the transformative potential of creative education, she is committed to inclusive education practice to cultivate supportive and inspiring environments where all students can thrive. Through curriculum design and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning research she aspires to empower creative communities of confident and compassionate collaborators and leaders, to help shape a more equitable and environmentally sustainable industry and wider world. Her award-winning practice-led research explores processes and poetics of artist-documentary film, environment and work, with films screening at venues and film festivals nationally and internationally.
