Membership and Networking Meeting – Knowledge Exchange

University Alliance has worked with Kingston University on a report and briefing: The Hidden Story: Understanding Knowledge Exchange Partnerships with the Creative Economy. The report identifies a number of reasons why the creative sector is a special case within the field of KE. Creative KE not only benefits the economy but also offers wider social benefits including creative universities as a key driver of cultural, social and economic regeneration in the regions. The report also identifies key challenges including the lower uptake of R&I funding in the creative sector due to lack of fit for SME and micro-enterprises, lack of incentives, and barriers to effective commercialisation. The creative HE sector also faces challenges in developing an effective evidence base and metrics. What role will the new Creative Industries Policy & Evidence Centre and Clusters Programme play?

What is the future of KE in the creative sector? How will KEF shape – possibly perversely – the KE landscape? What are the specific issues for the creative sector in the move to KEF metrics? How will KEF sit with REF impact and challenge-driven learning in TEF?
