The CHEAD Leadership Development programme has been running since 2010 and is designed by the Art and Design sector for the Art and Design sector. The events form a programme of activities to be accessed individually or as a set over a 1 – 2 year period. The programme is informed by current leaders’ experiences, experienced colleagues from related fields and recent case studies. The programme is open to all with an interest and involvement in leadership and management roles at any level.
Speakers for this event are:
- Professor Jonathan Woodham Director of Research Development
- Professor Anne Boddington, Dean of the College of Arts & Humanities at Brighton and Deputy Chair of Panel D34 Art and Design for REF 2014
with colleagues from Brighton’s Centre for Research & Development. - Professor Karen Fleming, University of Ulster, Belfast School of Art
Facilitators for the day are Dr. Bryony Conway former Dean at the University of Wolverhampton and Judy Glasman, on behalf of the CHEAD Executive Committee.
This leadership development event aims to explore aspects of research leadership and management, including establishing an inclusive research culture, developing strategies and operational approaches and the position of pedagogic and interdisciplinary research beyond Art and Design.
The day will also provide opportunities to outline a number of case studies of research and knowledge exchange activities and their impact on the student experience, curriculum and the broader economic and cultural context.
There will be opportunities to bring the current issues of participants for peer discussion during the day. The facilitators will call for specific challenges and questions that participants would like to discuss in advance of the day. This will be an opportunity to share and develop our thinking and to take our sector forward over the coming decade. Participants will be invited to indicate areas of interest and questions for discussion prior to the event. The event will be suitable for all levels of leadership e.g. Course Leaders, Associate/Assistant Deans and other leadership roles.
The event will include a site tour to see how the Faculty works, to include the Waste House collaboration between University of Brighton, Brighton and Hove City College, Mears Group and their apprentices and BBM Architects.
