Kingston University is looking for professional or academic colleagues who would be interested in working with us as a programme-level external examiner.

Programme-level external examiners will be responsible for ensuring that the University’s boards are conducted in line with our assessment regulations and that our processes are equitable to all our students. Induction and training will be provided.

  • External examiners will attend up to six boards per year, contributing to decisions about progression, awards and exclusions.
  • Boards are held virtually and so there will be no requirement to attend Kingston University.
  • Appointment period will be for either three or four academic years starting from January 2022.
  • You will be required to submit an annual report and will be paid an annual fee of £500.

Candidates should have:

(a) experience of working in a UK higher education institution in a senior position e.g. Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), Associate Dean, School Director of Learning & Teaching, Head of School, Academic Registrar or Head of Quality Assurance;

(b) an understanding of UK sector agreed reference points for the maintenance of academic standards and assurance and enhancement of quality and;

(c) experience as a Chair or member of assessment boards or significant experience of the application of assessment regulations and understanding of assessment board processes in UK HEIs;
