The Margate School (TMS) is an independent nonprofit postgraduate school combining liberal arts, with creative sustainable practice, co-creation and community engagement. Its motto is Art, Society, Nature, which means that we ask ourselves as a creative community to take responsibility for and become sensitive to the artefacts we make and produce, our social engagement and treatment of the environment we depend on.
Situated in a former Woolworths Building that had stood empty since 2008, The Margate School by its very nature has become a new hub for innovation and creativity in the town of Margate. Advocating a DIY and sustainability-driven environment, they have built the majority of their hub using reclaimed or found materials.
Its European Fine Art Masters, the first of its kind in the UK accredited by French art school ESADHaR, alongside its one-year postgraduate programmes in Visual Communication + Sound Arts provide an alternative approach to higher education through a series of practical and critical modules.
