The mission of the School of Digital, Technologies and Arts is to develop the designers, engineers, artists and performers of the future. Across our five Departments we offer undergraduate, postgraduate and research level opportunities within a wide spectrum of disciplines from Fine Art to Industrial Design, Engineering to Esports and Performing Arts to Visual Effects!

The Department of Art and Design is made up of eleven degrees including Fashion, Architecture and Cartoon & Comic Arts. We encourage students to develop confidence in their skills, creativity and communication, and develop innovative solutions to, material, aesthetic, and cultural issues of the day. Our courses work across the University making full use of our new Smart Zone, Advanced Manufacturing and enterprise facilities. The department is also involved in community arts initiatives and regeneration, highlighting our role as a Civic University.

Regional links to the re-emerging potteries industry at the Spode works are important to the department, as are links to V&A Museum’s Wedgwood Collection at the Wedgwood Museum.
