The Council for Higher Education in Art and Design now registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the Charity Commission
The Council for Higher Education in Art and Design (CHEAD) is the representative body for the art, design, creative media, and related disciplines in the higher education sector. Our mission is to advance education for the public benefit by promoting knowledge and understanding of art and design within higher education institutions.
CHEAD has recently been registered with the Charity Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with the registered charity number: 1174589.
Professor Anita Taylor, Chair of CHEAD, said: “On behalf of the Executive Committee and management team, I am delighted to announce that charitable status has been secured on behalf of CHEAD and its members. This marks an important moment for the future of CHEAD, recognising the charitable mission of its work on behalf of members but also ensuring the organisation is fit for purpose going into what continues to be a fast-changing landscape for the art and design higher education sector.”
CHEAD has over 60 institute members from all types of higher education institutions including: small-specialist, Russell Group, post-92 university as well as privately funded. CHEAD is a dynamic, participatory network actively involving all its members to shape its agenda and activities. CHEAD runs regular membership meetings and a number of specialist networking including a Research Alliance, Gallery Network and Subject Association Link Network. It also provides support in the form of leadership training and a peer network specifically for aspiring leaders in art and design.
